EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
The EUSR National Water Hygiene (Blue Card) plays an important role in protecting the mains water network and promoting good hygiene practices.
All UK Water companies require anyone working on the clean water network (known as “Restricted Operations”) to hold an EUSR National Water Hygiene registration. This extends to anyone working on the mains network including subcontractors.

Cards are per Individual
When working on a new mains chlorination it is the individual engineer that is required to hold the EUSR National Water Hygiene Card registration.
Some companies state they are EUSR accredited but they provide a single EUSR number and this may not be the engineer that carries out the work.
Ask Upfront & Check The Registration
Checking the registration of an engineer is simple. Ask the company for the Surname and EUSR registration number of the engineer attending site.
SHEA WATER
The Safety Health & Environmental Awareness Card for water works is a useful additional card to compliment the EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
Your engineer holding a SHEA Water registration gives you confidence that they have an understanding of the health and safety requirements both on site and whilst working on the water system.
They are also environmentally aware which is especially important when working with water containing high levels of chlorine as this water can have a very serious affect on the environment if not neutralised and disposed or correctly.
What Do Water Hygiene Solutions Do?
Obviously all our field engineers working on water systems hold current registrations for both the EUSR National Water Hygiene Card and the EUSR and are happy to provide sight of these on site. We are equally happy to provide these on booking if requested.
We also provide the EUSR number and name of the engineer performing the works on our certification. This gives the Water Authority the confidence that the person actually performing the new mains chlorination is not only qualified to do so but is legally allowed to be working on it.
You have the confidence that the person on site is health and safety trained and is aware of environmental issues that their works may cause and have the training to prevent any issues.
We are also happy to provide site specific RAMS at the point of booking the works so that you have all the information you require.
